Poolside with Gammy and Little P

Monday was lots of fun. Little P and I got to spend the whole day with Gammy (a.k.a. my awesome mom :) We spent most of the day running errands and going to appointments but we fit a little shopping in and a much needed haircut for P as well! Afterward we headed to the pool. It ended up being somewhat cloudy and windy but at least the water was nice and warm.

A Rainy Day is Good for Crochet :)

Here's a sneak peak at some of the projects I've been working on. As you can see, some are completed and some...not so much. I recently found a blue fingerless glove (yep, just one) that I stitched up last winter. It's now sitting in my WIP basket, waiting for a mate. Maybe by this Fall I'll be motivated to make another. I've also been waiting for some yarn that I ordered online. I'm planning on making a baby afghan with it :) In the meantime I'm stitching up something Summery and fun!! I can't wait to share it with you when I'm done!

Father's Day Weekend Fun

Father's Day weekend was tons of fun this year. We started off Saturday with a cookout at my mom's. Pictured here is my sister's boyfriend showing off his fabulous grilling skills!!

After dinner, we all reclined a bit and then headed out back to play in the yard :)

We had a corn hole tournament that got pretty intense. Pictured here are our fiercest competitors (note that I am not pictured here, ha ha). Here my sister shares her strategy, a kick back leg motion that is all her own!

The game was really close, but my Step-dad's team ended up winning it all. Even with an injured arm he played exceptionally well!!

All in all it was a fabulous day!! It was great seeing everyone, including my hubby's parents who ended up joining us too :)

Sunday started off as somewhat of a disappointment. We had a cookout scheduled with my Dad that got canceled because of the rain :( Fortunately Little P and her daddy got some extra quality time together, at the ice cream shop, yum!!

P and her Daddy shared a cone while watching the toy train go by overhead :)

Then we headed outside to enjoy the weather. Here Daddy and P share a laugh b/c Mommy can't seem to get a good picture of the two of them together. Ha ha, jokes on you guys!! This one ended up being perfect!!

So after all was said and done it ended up being a really great weekend. But w/o celebrating my Dad it just didn't feel the same... Hopefully we can get together soon for a belated Dad's Day Soiree!!

"H" is for Helpfulness

The letter of the week is...H! This has been a lesson in helpfulness and in all the things Little P can do to assist herself and be helpful to others.

Our craft this week was to make a poster board listing all the helpful things that P did around the house this week. We got finger paints and made hand impressions. Then we labeled each hand with an accomplishment.

We ended up running out of hands to label so a couple of things got left out. She also (only somewhat grudgingly) helped pick up her toys and also helped make a special Father's Day gift for her daddy.

I am so very proud of you Peanut!!
You have been so helpful this week!!

Highlights From The Zoo

Wednesday was perfect weather-wise, mid 70's and sunny. We decided to celebrate by going to the zoo! We got to see the brand new elephant crossing exhibit plus tons of other really great things. The animals were really active and Little P was thrilled to see them all! She just couldn't get enough. All in all we probably spent four hours there and P never once got tired out! That's more than I can say for me but then again, I've got an excuse ;)

Spoiler Alert: Dad's Day Gift Idea (No peeking Dads!!)

Father's Day is quickly approaching so I decided to get a head start on gifts this week. I wanted my Peanut to be able to give something special all on her own this year :)

Since her Daddy loves to read (and since most of her Grandpas do too) we decorated bookmarks together.

They were easy to make and super fun :) And best of all, they're functional!!

My BFF's Baby Shower :)

So this weekend was my BFF's baby shower :) I was happy to see that she got some really nice stuff. It's a good thing too since she's expecting twins!! It was so much fun getting to hang out with all the girls. I cannot wait to meet her precious little ones! She's going to be such a great mom.

Glorious G

This week we learned all about the letter "G". Little P and I went around the house and collected items for our letter bag.

We made a garland out of pictures that start with "G". Today, I plan on dragging my old guitar out of the closet and letting Peanut do some strumming. Guitar starts with "G", after all :)

Congrats Little Sis!!

My youngest sister graduated this past weekend, with honors!! I am so proud!! She is such a smart, talented girl and I just know she'll be great at whatever she does :) She's headed off to college this fall, to the #1 school of her choice. I couldn't be happier for her.

Best of luck! Congrats! I love you, sis!

"F" is for Fishing

First and foremost, please excuse the fact that my daughter is in her pj's in all of these shots. Craft time happened to take place before bath time today :) I just got so excited for us to do this activity together!!

I found this idea in a craft book entitled, Sticky Little Fingers: Rainy Day Activity Book. It's really clever and simple too! We just cut out some fish shapes from construction paper, decorated them and put metal paper clips on the front. Then we make a fishing pole by stringing a magnet to the end of a stick.

After that, it was fishing time :) I made a little "pond" by covering our laundry basket with a blue blanket. Then Peanut got to try her hand at fishing!

She caught one or two with the magnet, then decided she'd rather use her hands, lol! Afterward, she lined them all up, just in order to...

toss them all back into the pond, and to take a little swim herself :)

Memorial Day :)

This year we spent Memorial Day with Grandma & Grandpa. The rain we've been having finally cleared and we were able to spend the day pool-side! Kiddie pool-side, that is :) Gma and Gpa had a cookout and we spent the day chowing down and sipping iced tea. It was the perfect way to end the weekend :)
